Lyrics

HIERARCHY

There was a dream of landscaping
The vast, hard-souled soil of Earth
would be turned into usefulness.
There would be fruit and labor.
There would be harvesting and questions.
Who owned Paradise?  What is Barreness?
From the second-story porch deck
They could see the need: Yes rocks, white rocks
on top of
any-colored, plastic sheeting &
diamond-back , black edging Over Here (Over Here!)
& chemicals for the green slaughter Over There (Over There!)
& we will watch & wait
with this hunting in us
for the perfected turf to grow....
And so for days that was the Dream.
And so they named it.
They called it "Good "
